Unexpected Gift(s)

Just when you think that spring break could not be ANY further away (APRIL 8, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD) and that you can't go on teaching for ONE MORE MINUTE....
... the SWEETEST, most unassuming 1st grader proudly struts into music class with a jewelry box and hands it to you. Inside, you find the coolest pair of earrings EVER, that he got for you on his recent trip to Trinidad and Tobago.

Smile achieved.

You can do this.

WE ARE SO EXCITED! Meet S!

Posted just now on facebook by meeeeeeee:

Meet S!!! (That's a secret name for now.) We were not looking for a dog this {potential} size (HOLY PAWS, BATMAN!) or breed, but met the pup today and the entire family is in LOVE (even Maddie, who we thought might be a hard sell). Dora gave us MANY recent signs that this was the dog we needed to help fill in (never totally, of course) the hole she left in all our hearts. I think I am the most excited of all of us (Andrew is a very close second). Two days to puppy-proof everything.... XOXOXOXO!

First Day of School 2016-17

The boys and I had a great first day back.  Jon did, too.  We were all tired, but the day was fun. Can't believe we have 1st and 4th graders in the house.

Had to add one from the blooper reel, as usual.  I swear these are not staged.  We just usually get a few terrible ones before the good on day one.

Here's to a happy, healthy, fun year at school for all!

Andrew's 7th Birthday Party!

Two weeks ago, we celebrated Andrew's 7th with a swimming party at our YMCA.  Both grandmas, some school friends, and some old friends came, and fun was had by all!

Last Day at BCE! (Sort of...)

Today was my last at Bridge Creek Elementary. I taught there for four years and will miss so many of my colleagues and students.  But, change is a good thing and I am excited to be moving on to another district elementary school in August.  The new one is actually slightly closer to us and Andrew will be accompanying me there for [GULP] 2nd grade.  Time, please stand still, will you?!? Ethan will stay at BCE for one more year and then join Andrew and me at the new school for his Kindergarten year in 2015-16.

I snapped the first three photos of the guys this morning. Weird hair and expressions. Sigh.
I am glad I will still be connected to BCE through Ethan and his wonderful teacher.

I took these next two photos a few days ago.  Andrew will miss his BCE buddies.

Onward and upward!  As they say, change is the only constant.
