Swim Camp 2014, Day One

Andrew and Ethan are having swim camp again this year with Miss Libby and her amazing staff.  She is the one solely responsible for getting Ethan comfortable with putting his head underwater when he was 4.  These are the photos she just posted from today, of the guys picking up just where they left off. Love.

Last Day at BCE! (Sort of...)

Today was my last at Bridge Creek Elementary. I taught there for four years and will miss so many of my colleagues and students.  But, change is a good thing and I am excited to be moving on to another district elementary school in August.  The new one is actually slightly closer to us and Andrew will be accompanying me there for [GULP] 2nd grade.  Time, please stand still, will you?!? Ethan will stay at BCE for one more year and then join Andrew and me at the new school for his Kindergarten year in 2015-16.

I snapped the first three photos of the guys this morning. Weird hair and expressions. Sigh.

I am glad I will still be connected to BCE through Ethan and his wonderful teacher.

I took these next two photos a few days ago.  Andrew will miss his BCE buddies.

Onward and upward!  As they say, change is the only constant.

Awards Day!

'Tis the season for proud parents' end-of-year program postings. Ours is from today. Andrew received awards for perfect attendance and creativity, and Ethan received awards for his building and math skills. There were moments Jon and I didn't believe we would make it to the end of the school year with these two, but we are almost there and couldn't be happier to be their parents. They have two patient, kind, creative, smart teachers!

Hailmageddon

Yesterday evening, as the excitement of the 3-day weekend was just settling in, we got a pretty intense rainstorm here in NE Columbia.  The four of us enjoyed running around in the front yard, getting soaked.  It was awesome.

THEN, hail started falling!  Jon and I have both experienced it before, but years ago and nowhere near as large or intense as these ice chunks were.  It sounded like a battlefield from inside the house.  The family just sat at our front door, curiously and helplessly watching our cars get pelted.  Ethan had a million questions and Maddie was completely wigged out.  Our cars are both dented. I dread checking out the damage to my veggies.

Mother Nature. Sigh.

More from the Sparkleberry Fair, Two Weeks Later...

I am finally getting around to posting the second half of pics from the fair.  The boys had a great time!

Andrew didn't really get the bumper car idea, so it wasn't his favorite.  Maybe next year?

The 45-second haunted house ride.... Ethan freaked out and only rode once.
Andrew went by himself about 5 more times afterward.

We ran into old friends and loved riding along with them.

Couldn't get there fast enough!

I also saw some of my sweet students.

Getting a little tired.  It was HOT.

OK, a LOT tired. Fair: 1. Andrew: 0.

Time for a nap!
