Charleston 2012

Friday after school, I drove down to Charleston to meet Jon, who was already there for the SC Music Educators' Conference.  Grandma Cathy stayed back in Columbia with the boys.

We ate at Hank's Seafood that night.  Amazing.

And Saturday morning we dined at T-Bonz for a little "hair of the dog that bit ya."  The weather was so beautiful and amazing that this window was wide open to Meeting Street.  Best seat in the house!

At the harbor we joked that this was our ride for the afternoon. Someday. [sigh]

This ride would have been cool, too.

And we would have enjoyed this one, as well.

Fort Sumter, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired

I liked this guy's attitude.

I'm sitting at the top of the steps of the custom house looking across the street to the harbor.  Slaves would be taken directly off the cargo ships, marched across the street and up the steps, and walked straight down the hall to be auctioned on the other side.

Goodbye, Charleston.  You're only a hop, skip, and a jump away, so hopefully we'll get back to you again before February 2013.

Love the pictures and so glad you were able to have 1:1 time in such a cool town. Can't wait to go there too. =)
